I am interested in the moments when architecture dissolves into pure space.
In this painting, a quiet staircase emerges between two monumental forms, guiding the eye toward an opening that never fully reveals itself. The sweeping curve, restrained palette, and expansive negative space create an atmosphere where structure feels suspended between memory and imagination.
Rather than depicting a real place, I reduce architecture to its essential relationships—light, shadow, proportion, and silence. The small orange sun acts as a quiet point of balance, suggesting the passage of time without defining it.
This work is part of my ongoing Fragments Monument series, where I explore emotional architecture through simplified forms and contemplative space.
Original oil painting by Jane M., 2026.
